Go here if you don't know what an icarathian is.A day or so after new year's I had this idea.
Since I'm currently working on learning
JOGL, and since I had this icarathian model I was working on, it gave me an idea.
Why not make an icarathian game?
So currently I'm working on making the model file importer, and afterwards I'll actually render the model on the screen.
Because I know lots of people have these icarathians by now, I also thought that I could add something that lets you color the model as you wish. All that you'd have to do is put down the base colors on the pattern: the shading and everything would be applied in the program.
I'm planning on making it into an RPG/adventure/puzzle game. As usual, if I start on a big project like this by myself I probably won't get even close to finishing.
So I'm recruiting people who'd like to work on this with me. I'm currently looking for the following:
- Programmers that are experienced with java. If you have already worked with AWT, some form of 3D programming, networking, or images, that would be a definite plus.

3D modelers that are familiar with making low-poly models (like in the 1k-2k range)-
2D artists that are familiar with making textures for 3D models or similar- 2D artists that can make user interfaces and/or icons

Animators that are familiar with animating character models- Musicians that can make ambient/environment background music (not needed at the moment but I might need one in the future)
- A bunch of cheerleaders to keep us motivated

Of course, if you can do multiple things then that's even better. I'm not looking for a large team for this project - just a couple people.

Eh, I'll use .md2 for the model files. They seem to be widely supported.

As for zones, there should be a wide variance of different environments, but they should at least correspond to their location. So no swamps next to the desert, for example.
I'll probably end up rearranging it (I'm a bit picky when it comes to geology) but do the best you can.
Keep in mind that the dominant race here act pretty much like humans: they live practically everywhere.
